BREIF

BRAGI is the customized glasses brand of Nanjing Jianjie Intelligent Technology Co., LTD. It tailorizes the glasses frame through 3D face scanning and 3D printing to provide more accurate optical corrections and even more comfortable and light wearing experiences for users.

ABOUT

The design proposition of this project is to examine the value of 3D printing customized eyewear services by redesigning eyewear frame customization terminal used in cooperative retail stores.

Bragi offers five main values for their customers:

- Accurately customize eyewear frame for users through 3D face scanning

- Allowing users to choose their favorite color and style of eyewears

- Offering AI powered virtual try on experiencing

- Precision manufacturing eyewear frames by 3D printing

- Repair and maintenance for sold products

Eyewear retail stores are BRAGI’s main and most important partners. BRAGI places its custom terminals in cooperative stores, where customers could order BRAGI’s services with the support of store staffs.

 

From each sales of BARGI, the stores will receive a commission on the sales and proceed from the lenses sold with the frames, as well as the proceeds from the optometry and assembling service.

According to the analysis of BRAGI’s existing business model, it could be found that BRAGI has a single service channel for customers, and the online and offline experiences seemed incoherent. It is difficult to accumulate and precipitate consumers and  to achieve fission and secondary sales.

I then started the investigation based on my own design tasks.

Design and prototype

Then I started to design the terminal. As I finished one version, I used it as a prototype to test the usability and adjusted to the next version. The final version was shown in the third version.

SOLUTION

SOLUTION

Introducing you all new BRAGI terminal 

The new BRAGI used a set of new UI designed based on the current BRAGI logo, which showed a stronger visual identity. Six light spots improved user experience to another stage. And the repositioned role of the terminal fixed the embarrassing relationship between the retail stores and BRAGI terminals, which gave more possibility for mutually beneficial cooperation.

  • Store introduction

The terminal was given a new role as the store guide for the cooperative retail stores, which increased the benefit from the terminal for them. The terminal would also promote other glasses in the store instead of just being a terminal for BRAGI.

  • Eyewear ID card

As the users slid to the far right they would see the welcome page of BRAGI. On the welcome page, users could see the BRAGI glasses customized by other costumers, which showed them the high customizability of BRAGI glasses and attract them to start personalization by using herd instinct.

  • Small questionarie

During the waiting time after scanning the face, we also offered a small questionnaire about the degree of myopia, preferred style and color, which made the recommendation more accurate.

  • Bragi introduction

During the waiting time after scanning the face, users could view the instruction of 3D personalized glasses and the background of BRAGI company, which offered the users a more complete understanding of BRAGI 3D customized eyewear and reduced the discomfort of waiting.

  • Face analyzation

On the face analyzation page, users would first see the proportion of maturity, wisdom and loveliness for their faces, which was very interesting. Then they would see the analyzation of their faces with measured data, which made it more clear for the recommendation of suitable glasses below.

Based on the face scanned and questionnaire did from the users, the terminal would recommend suitable glasses for the users.

With the help of the new BRAGI terminal, more boosts were given to the mutually beneficial cooperation and the market of glasses got larger generally.

REFLECTION

Future development

Because of the limitation of the retail store, the BRAGI terminal could not be unmanned at the current stage. But as BRAGI develops, it can choose shopping malls as its partners instead of retail stores. BRAGI can place the unmanned terminal in the shopping malls for the people to customize, which gets in touch with more potential customers. And after they finish customization and plan to purchase, they should only enter their diopter of myopia and home address for delivery.

Self reflection

Due to the privacy, I could not get more essential information about the relationship between BRAGI and its cooperative  retail stores.If I would get a chance to retake this project, I would discuss with more friends in business and marketing  in order to improve my solution from the commercial perspective.
